Saint Francis of Assisi was known as a Catholic friar, founder of the Franciscans, and one of the most venerated figures in Christianity. He was inspired to live a life of poverty and loved nature, while also caring for the environment and animals. He originally came from wealth but devoted his life to his ministry to the poor and underprivileged.
